Congratulations to Sayra Hernandez on her job offer with General Motors! Sayra is an exceptional Electrical Engineering student at Arizona State University. She was born and raised in Los Angeles and became interested in engineering in her junior year while attending Southeast High School.

During her junior and senior year of high school, she was a part of the Mathematics, Engineering, Science and Achievement (MESA) program. There, she had the opportunity to compete against schools across California in academic-based studies. The most influential member throughout her high school career was her calculus teacher and MESA mentor, Mr. Abad. He made an impact that gave Sayra the knowledge and skillset to head into an engineering-related program.

Currently, Sayra is a participating member in Arizona State’s EcoCAR 3 program. As a former member of the Electrical Engineering team, she is now a part of the Controls team for Arizona State. She also has experience working with the System Modeling and Simulation team for her senior design capstone.

At the age of 21, Sayra is already on a road for a bright future in engineering. Her drive and work ethic will take her far towards any goal she chooses.
