ABOUT US
Mission Statement
Building the Vehicles of Tomorrow, Today!
With the future of mobility rapidly changing, UWAFT wants to:
· Innovate for the future of mobility!
· Give students the skills, experience and connections to launch themselves into successful careers!
· Strive to increase awareness of sustainable transportation and encourage younger students to pursue STEM!
· Provide a welcoming, tight-knit team environment for members!
History of the team
UWAFT was established in 1996 as one of only a few design teams at the University of Waterloo. Located originally in the Physics building, a small group of engineering students wanted to make a difference in vehicle design and sustainable transportation.
Started with the Propane Vehicle Challenge, UWAFT has participated in five AVTC series competitions.
Direction of the team
We have grown to a multidisciplinary team of over 170+ students, including students from University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University. Our strength as a team lies with our hard-working and resourceful team of volunteers. Our members are from a wide range of programs in engineering and business. We have members working on Controls, Mechanical, Communications, Autonomous vehicles, User Interface Design and more!
We look forward to Year 2 of the EcoCAR Mobility Challenge and redesigning our 2019 Chevrolet Blazer!
