The Ohio State University Hosts the Year One Fall Workshop

The first official Fall Workshop for EcoCAR 3 has come to an end! Last week, more than 150 students and faculty from 16 universities in North America traveled to The Ohio State University for the Fall Workshop.

The opening session for the Fall Workshop

Over the four-day workshop, teams took part in a crash course for EcoCAR. Not only did they learn about the multi-disciplinary swimlanes for the competition, but also took part in sponsorship training from MathWorks, Siemens NX, and Autonomie. Teams also had a chance to learn about the components being offered for EcoCAR 3, including components and software provided by General Motors, MathWorks, Freescale, BOSCH, ETAS, Siemens, GKN Driveline, Woodward, EnerDel, Ricardo, New Eagle, and A123 Systems.

Other students attending had a chance to participate in a ‘Shark Tank’ exercise in the project management session and media and video training for communications students. On the final evening of the workshop, students had a chance to network and connect with more than 14 sponsors at the Fall Workshop Sponsor Social Networking and Recruiting Event!

The workshop was very beneficial to teams as it will prepare them for upcoming deliverables and guide them on a path to selecting a vehicle architecture, which will be selected and announced in Spring 2015.

Stay tuned for updates for the next workshop, which will be hosted at Freescale’s headquarters in Austin, Texas in mid-January!
