Announcing new EcoCAR EV Challenge Sponsors: Dataspeed Inc. and tesa tape!

Dataspeed Inc.

Dataspeed Inc., located in Metro Detroit, provides complete autonomous research and development vehicle integrations that allow engineers to get up and running quickly on their algorithm, sensor, or data research.

Dataspeed is joining Advanced Vehicle Technology Competitions (AVTCs) as a Supporter-level sponsor and will provide each EcoCAR team with an intelligent Power Distribution System (iPDS), a flexible and easy-to-use solution for powering instrumentation, computers, and sensors of a test vehicle. The system is designed with commonly used communication interfaces to support drive-by-wire autonomous vehicle research, advanced driver assistance systems experimentation, and any automotive electronics testing.
In a statement from Dataspeed:

“Dataspeed is honored to sponsor the EcoCAR EV Challenge. The university students taking part in this challenge are the future of the automotive industry and will have the chance to make significant energy-efficient and eco-friendly technology advancements. Dataspeed is pleased to provide participating universities with our technology and expertise through 2026. We wish all the teams the best of luck in this exciting challenge.”

tesa tape

tesa tape is a leading manufacturer of pressure-sensitive adhesives serving a broad range of industries from automotive to construction. Globally headquartered in Germany and regionally headquartered in North Carolina, tesa has a US-based manufacturing facility in Michigan. tesa holds the original patent for tape and currently has over 7,000 products in its portfolio. tesa works across the automotive industry in all parts of the vehicle: sealing holes in the body, bundling and protecting electrical wires, affixing logos and screens, and tons of other hidden uses. Without tesa products, cars would look and sound very different than they do today.

tesa is a returning AVTC contributor sponsor and is providing EcoCAR teams access to their extensive catalog of adhesive products. The individual needs of the teams will vary, but the SDI Subteams will certainly use tesa for their wire harness bundling and protection products, interior mounting solutions, and their exterior autonomous sensor mounting options.

“We are proud to again be sponsors of the EcoCAR EV Challenge,” said JR Valdez, Sales Manager for Electrical Systems at tesa tape North America. “It’s exciting to continue to be part of the knowledge base for the next generation of automotive engineers who we hope to meet in the field during their careers!”
