Jackson State University (Jackson, Miss.) is partnering with Hinds Community College (Utica, Miss.) to compete as one of 12 teams in the three-year Battery Workforce Challenge collegiate competition.
Mission
The Jackson State University & Hinds Community College's BattChallenge team will serve as a regional model for promoting excellence in batteries and advanced vehicle technologies. The team empowers educators to confidently implement battery-electric vehicle education initiatives and supports the development of an interdisciplinary and well-prepared workforce of scientists, technicians, engineers, mathematicians and educators.
Goals
Year two goals for the Jackson State University & Hinds Community College BattChallenge team include:
- Continue to promote the advancement of advanced vehicle technologies
- Deepen students' understanding of the battery-engineering discipline
- Engage students in industry-standard practices and methodologies
