Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology & Ivy Tech Community College

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Terre Haute, Ind.) is teaming up with Ivy Tech Community College (Indianapolis) for the three-year Battery Workforce Challenge collegiate competition. This 72-member team is a collaborative effort between the two Indiana schools, bringing together university and vocational students to combine academic and practical expertise.

Our mission is to catalyze the future of sustainable transportation by cultivating a highly skilled workforce for the automotive industry. Through the collaboration of engineers from several disciplines, we aim to position the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology & Ivy Tech Community College's BattChallenge team at the forefront of advanced battery pack systems through academic research, design, development and integration.

Year two goals for the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology & Ivy Tech Community College's BattChallenge team include:

1. Fabricate a functional battery module, and have it shipped and tested at competition in the spring of 2025.
2. Engage Ivy Tech Community College by moving our pack fabrication operations to its facilities.
3. Establish and refine team-wide testing protocols to ensure the battery module meets safety and performance standards, preparing team members for rigorous industry testing and compliance processes.
