Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology & Ivy Tech Community College
About
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology ([Terre Haute, IN]) partnering with Ivy-Tech Community College (Terre Haute), our ~30-member BattChallenge team designs, builds, and validates a safe, serviceable EV battery system through tight university–vocational collaboration and industry mentorship.
Mission
The team is to provide an official mission statement that is no more than one to three sentences.
We advance practical EV energy-storage innovation by integrating rigorous engineering, hands-on manufacturing, and workforce development—delivering a competition-ready battery pack while training the next generation of technicians and engineers to lead a safer, electrified future.
Goals
Goal 1: Complete module- and pack-level testing to competition standards (leak/pressure, vibration, thermal cycling, abuse, HVIL, and BMS fault injection), achieving documented compliance with safety requirements and a signed test report set ready for technical inspection.
Goal 2: Release production-ready drawings/BOMs with DFM/DFA controls, service procedures, and torque/quality checklists; assemble a field-serviceable pack enclosure and harness.
Goal 3: Build technical and engineering knowledge about EV battery packs and manufacturing.
