The Ohio State University & Columbus State Community College
About
The Ohio State University is partnering with Columbus State Community College in the Battery Workforce Challenge collegiate competition. Combined, this Columbus-based team consists of 30 members.
Mission
The Ohio State University & Columbus State Community College's BattChallenge team brings together multi-disciplinary students to collaboratively design, build and integrate an advanced battery pack. The team promotes hands-on learning, where each member’s unique skills progress technology and advanced vehicle technologies.
Goals
Below are three goals The Ohio State University & Columbus State Community College's BattChallenge team aim to achieve in year two of the three-year engineering competition.
- Expand team membership at both institutions: By bringing in perspectives from various disciplines relevant to battery engineering and project management, the crew aims to enrich its team with broader insights and innovative approaches.
- Design a competitive and innovative battery module: By refining its technical approach and prioritizing safety, efficiency and performance. The OSU & CSCC team aims to push boundaries in battery module design, integrating advanced materials and cooling techniques to stand out in the competition’s technical evaluations.
- Enhance team members' skills in essential areas such as engineering software and hands-on assembly work: This includes scheduling skill-sharing sessions, hands-on training in assembly and high-voltage safety workshops.
