University of Waterloo & Lambton College

The University of Waterloo is partnering with Lambton College in the Battery Workforce Challenge. This Waterloo, Canada-based team is comprised of two managers, six technical leads, four BattScholars and approximately 20 dedicated team members, bringing together academic and hands-on skills to push the boundaries of EV battery technology.

Our mission is to design a competitive EV battery pack that meets the specific demands of cold-weather performance. Our team combines expertise in mechanical, electrical and software engineering to bring innovative solutions from academia to real-world applications. As part of the Battery Workforce Challenge, we aim to develop impactful technology that complies with industry standards.

The University of Waterloo & Lambton College Battery Workforce Challenge team's year two goals include:

1. Ensure each team member has clearly defined roles for project tasks, with responsibilities documented and reviewed in regular meetings for alignment and understanding.
2. Validate thermal management strategies through module simulations under real-world conditions.
3. Design and simulate a reliable Battery Management System for monitoring and controlling the battery module’s electrical performance.
