On Saturday, Oct.ober 5, 2024, the University of Waterloo &and Lambton College’s Battery Workforce Challenge team ran an information booth at the Upper Canada College’s Annual A-Day event to share about our project and our team. A-Day, which stands for Association Day, is a community event featuring activities, live entertainment, sports and food. It is open to students, alumni, friends, and family. This blog captures our outreach efforts to inspire and engage the youth community, showcasing our team’s vision and commitment to innovation.
The atmosphere at the event was electric! There was a live student jazz band playing live and the weather was beautiful. We got to talk to many children and youth who were very excited about our project and asked many questions.

At the booth we had on display an informative poster, a remote-controlled battery-powered skateboard, and a functional small BMS reporting to a monitor every second the current of the circuit, the state of charge of the connected battery cell, and the atmospheric temperature.
The best part of the event was being able to connect with youth who are so eager to learn, as well as their parents, grandparents and other members of the community. It was insightful to walk through campus with so much history and see buildings that have stood since Canada’s beginnings! A big thanks to Upper Canada College for having us!
