Battery Workforce Challenge Program featured on the Federal Drive with Tom Temin podcast

LEMONT – Last week, Kristen Wahl featured the Battery Workforce Challenge Program on the Federal News Network’s Federal Drive with Tom Temin podcast.

The program is the U.S. Department of Energy’s comprehensive EV and battery workforce development program that fosters a diverse talent pipeline by building an educational ecosystem that delivers training and education for high school and collegiate graduates, vocational and transitional workers, and technicians who will charge North America’s battery industry forward.

“The program features four different initiatives, including what we announced last week, which was a nation-wide network of regional workforce training hubs,” said Wahl, Argonne National Laboratory’s director of the Sustainable Transportation Education and Partnerships Department. “These hubs are really intended to step into the critical skills gaps and identify areas to reskill and upskill transitional workers for those in-demand EV and manufacturing jobs.”

Those four different initiatives include the Battery Workforce Challenge collegiate competition, regional workforce development, career-connected learning and STEM education.

This program was recently featured in a White House fact sheet and on the U.S. DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy’s website. To learn more about the Battery Workforce Challenge Program, listen to the podcast.
