EcoCAR 3 is a four-year competition where 16 North American university teams are tasked with redesigning a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro to make it more environmentally friendly while still maintaining the vehicle’s real-world performance and safety. It builds on a proud 26-year history of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Advanced Vehicle Technology Competition (AVTC) series, fostering an environment where students can apply classroom knowledge to a real-world problem.
Competition sponsor General Motors (GM) plays a vital role in helping the participating university teams with this project. They not only provide teams with the vehicle itself, but also provide mentors to set teams up for success in Year 1 of the competition and beyond.
