Please join us for the 2021 EcoCAR Virtual Career Fair!
As part of the Career Connected Learning (CCL) Series, we will be hosting a Virtual Career Fair on February 11, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM ET to connect job seeking EcoCAR students with industry sponsors. We have partnered with Brazen, a virtual career fair and online hiring event platform, to enable our sponsors to engage with EcoCAR students who are searching for internships or full-time employment opportunities.
Through Brazen, the online chat feature will connect students and sponsors from the comfort of their own home, office, smartphone or tablet. There will be numerous competition-level sponsors at booths at the virtual event, hosted by recruiters from each organization. Students will have the opportunity to explore the available information and opportunities from each sponsor, and can take part in 1-on-1 text-based chats with representatives from participating sponsors.
Sponsors have begun setting up their booths and providing details on open positions. As shared in Episode 1 of the EcoCAR Podcast, Kristy Rasbach, Autonomous Vehicles Chief Engineer at General Motors (GM), noted that GM will be hiring around 3,000 employees through the 1st quarter of this year to achieve the company’s vision of an all-electric future.
Many AVTC students have gone into the automotive field to embark on exciting careers founded on experience gained from the competition. In fact, over the 33-year history of the competitions, more than 20,000 students have taken a variety of jobs in the field. Even in this new environment, AVTCs continue to provide these unique opportunities for students.

The U.S. Department of Energy, through Argonne National Laboratory, provides overall competition management, team evaluation, and technical and logistical support for EcoCAR, the premier DOE-sponsored student vehicle competition. U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) launched its student vehicle competition program in 1988 to demonstrate and test technologies developed in laboratories. By combining the next generation of technical innovators with emerging advanced transportation technologies, the EcoCAR competition helps ensure a sustainable, environmentally responsible transportation future. DOE and its network of national laboratories maintain an aggressive research and development program in advanced vehicle technologies, including fuel cells, energy storage, hybrid systems, advanced materials, alternative fuels, and heat engines. DOE continues to develop new technology to improve vehicle efficiency and lessen our dependence on foreign oil. Through the student vehicle competition program, close to 16,500 students have received hands-on engineering experience and many of them have moved on to take jobs in the automotive industry, bringing with them an enthusiasm for advanced vehicle technologies.
