We are excited to announce that NXP Semiconductors will host the EcoCAR 3 Year Two Winter Workshop in Austin, TX this January. NXP Semiconductors recently merged with competition sponsor, Freescale. According to Rick Clemmer, Chief Executive Officer of NXP, “The combination of NXP and Freescale creates an industry powerhouse focused on the high-growth opportunities in the Smarter World.” Leadership level sponsor, dSPACE will team up with NXP to co-sponsor the Year Two Winter Workshop.
For the first time during Year Two, students will have the opportunity to present to industry professionals in the areas of Innovation, Systems Modeling and Simulation, Hardware-in-the-Loop, and Project Status. These presentations will prepare the teams for the Year Two final competition in May, 2016. During the Winter Workshop, teams will receive multi-track training from several leading competition-level sponsors including: General Motors, NXP, dSPACE, MathWorks, Siemens, Mentor Graphics and more.
A group of Austin-area middle and high school students are invited to visit NXP to take part in the 2016 Education Day. The students will spend the day learning from EcoCAR 3 team members, and participating in hands-on activities that will enhance their understanding of STEM. They will also have the opportunity to tour NXP’s Internet of Tomorrow Truck!
