Another workshop has come to a close for this year’s EcoCAR 3 students as they left Boston with new skills under their belt. Over the course of the workshop, teams participated in multi-track training featuring competition sponsors at MathWorks Headquarters in Natick, MA. Teams also received an update on Year Three competition rules, upcoming deliverables and EcoCAR 3 events for the coming year.
Training sessions during the workshop included technical, project management, and communications. The teams had the opportunity to receive valuable and extensive training from Argonne National Laboratory, General Motors, MathWorks, Siemens, PMI, Weber Shandwick, and more.
In the engineering technical sessions, students learned mechanical project planning, how to create electrical systems evaluation plans, and received training in sponsor software that will be used on the vehicle this year. Safety is always a priority for EcoCAR 3, and on Thursday, teams received in-depth training on high-voltage safety awareness.
In the project management and communication tracks, students were just as busy learning to manage social media, create outreach campaigns, and prepare project management execution plans. These two areas are important for students to keep their teams running on time, smoothly and safely, and to communicate their teams’ success.
A special thanks to MathWorks for opening your doors to provide the facilities to make this workshop possible, as well as all EcoCAR 3 sponsors!
