The University of Victoria EcoCAR Team had the opportunity to present their design technology at this year’s Discover Tectoria in Victoria, BC. The team showcased their 2013 Chevrolet Malibu to roughly 3000 people. Middle and high school students were present at the event, and had the chance to ask questions about the team’s vehicle.
The team lead, John Walsh, discussed the team’s 80kW electric TM4 4th generation belt alternator starter engine with professors and students.

Seventh grade students from Monterey Middle School had the chance to talk to the team about green technology, and took away EcoCAR 2 flyers to learn more about our vehicle design. Some students also asked about how an electric battery functions.
Discover Tectoria, hosted by VIATeC, is a showcase event where companies and schools can share their designs and ideas with like-minded individuals. In addition to engineering projects, the event also hosts chemistry shows, technology design booths, and other University of Victoria design projects.
