The UT Austin EcoCAR team proudly unveiled the All-Electric Cadillac LYRIQ at the University of Texas at Austin campus.
Marking a historic milestone for the team, this all-electric vehicle showcases the team’s dedication to innovation and serves as a gateway for engaging the broader student population with the EcoCAR Challenge, offering a glimpse into the future of sustainable transportation and a pipeline into the automotive sector for prospective students.
The LYRIQ was displayed at the Speedway Mall, which is a half-mile corridor stretching from the Blanton Museum of Art at the southern end of the UT Austin campus through the middle of the campus towards the School of Engineering.
The unveiling drew a diverse audience, including students, faculty, and the general public. The event was highlighted and supported by the Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering, underscoring the significance of the EcoCAR Challenge in shaping the future of automotive engineering in the university and the city of Austin.
This milestone event allowed the public to interact directly with the Cadillac LYRIQ, parked prominently on campus. Attendees were invited to explore the vehicle, with team members providing guided tours, highlighting its cutting-edge features. From its efficient performance to its aesthetic interior, the Cadillac LYRIQ symbolizes the beginning of a journey of dedication and exploration by the UT Austin EcoCAR team.
The delivery of the LYRIQ sets the stage for a comprehensive exploration of advanced propulsion systems, connected and automated vehicle (CAV) technologies, and other innovative solutions. The goal for the competition series is to implement energy-efficient and customer-pleasing features while meeting the decarbonization needs of the automotive industry.
