The EcoCAR Mobility Challenge Year Two Fall Workshop has come to an end. Over the course of the workshop, teams participated in multi-track training from competition-level sponsors at the MathWorks Headquarters in Natick, MA.
The workshop kicked off with a warm welcome from Pieter J. Mosterman Chief Research Scientist and Director of the Advanced Research & Technology Office, MathWorks. Followed by Michael Berube, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Transportation (Acting), U.S. Department of Energy, who discussed the Promise of Connected and Automated Vehicle Technologies. The teams also heard from Chris Meagher, Executive Director for Engine and Transmission Hardware Engineering, Global Products Group, General Motors, who spoke about an 
important aspect of the EcoCAR program, the Importance of Leadership.
Training sessions throughout the workshop included technical, project management, and communications. From Automated Driving System Development and Testing Using Simulink training, to Agile Operations Plan Development, the teams had the opportunity to receive valuable and extensive training from Argonne National Laboratory, General Motors, MathWorks, Bosch, Intel, and many more.
Students came prepared with resumes in-hand to mingle with sponsors at the Sponsor Social Networking and Recruitment event on Thursday evening. The room was buzzing with excitement as students were able to highlight their talents with recruiters from numerous competition-level sponsors.
On Friday, the MathWorks hosted their annual EcoCAR Lobster & Clambake on their Apple Hill campus. Teams enjoyed some great food, AVTC trivia, and games on the lawn to end a day full of training.
