The Colorado State University Vehicle Innovation Team is ready to begin another year of the EcoCAR Mobility Challenge, bringing along a fresh set of new team members and team leads that are ready to jump into action. The team holds up to 40 students and faculty participating in the challenge where individually, many different backgrounds and skills are brought to the table to make this year the best of the best.
The entire team is broken down into 6 separate teams that contribute to multiple aspects of EcoCAR. Each sub team has an undergraduate team lead who is responsible for the technical management of their respective EcoCAR responsibilities and aims to make the entire group great at what they do and help to clear the design path for them. With a variety of backgrounds and people of all academic levels, the CSU EcoCAR team leads are ready to see what Year 1 has in store for them- and their teammates.
Let’s meet them.
On the Powertrain Team, Nick Brunson-Williams is the team lead from Pratt, Kansas. Nick is a senior in Mechanical Engineering at CSU and is ready to celebrate his senior year participating in the Year 4 CSU EcoCAR Mobility Challenge.
Nikki Machado is the team lead for the Controls Team. Nikki is a senior in Mechanical Engineering at CSU and is from Morro Bay, California. She is more than excited to take on her first year of the CSU EcoCAR Mobility Challenge at full speed.
On the CAVS Team, Haoying Wang (Coco) is the team lead from China. Coco is a senior in Electrical and Computer Engineering at CSU and is excited to bring all of her knowledge to the Year 4 CSU EcoCAR Mobility Challenge for her senior year.
Brady Johnson is the Mechanical Team lead from Colorado Springs, Colorado. Brady is a senior in Mechanical Engineering at CSU and is looking forward to seeing what the Year 4 CSU EcoCAR Mobility Challenge has in store for him, and his team.
Joshua Berry is the team lead for the Keysight Motor-Inverter Dynamometer Team from Pueblo, Colorado. Joshua is a senior in Mechanical Engineering at CSU and is hoping to have a successful first year of the CSU EcoCAR Mobility Challenge with him, and his team members.
On the High Voltage Team, Zak Turner is the team lead from Aurora, Colorado. Zak is a 5th year senior in Mechanical Engineering at CSU. He and his team members are ready to see what the CSU EcoCAR Mobility Challenge has in store for them and are looking forward to what the challenge teaches them in
the long run.

The teams and their leads are all looking forward to starting strong for another new year of the EcoCAR Mobility Challenge and are more than ready to start getting their hands dirty. With a diverse group of team leads, the CSU Team is excited for what the year has in store for each individual team member.
