Encouraging Community Collaboration to Spread Innovation

Written by: Christian Braun

The McMaster EcoCAR3 Team was proud to showcase innovations and run simulations during the public outreach event in partnership with the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE). This event was held at Carmen’s Banquet Hall in Hamilton, Ontario on October 23, 2017 during the Hamilton-Halton Engineering week. With over 500 engineering professionals in attendance, the McMaster EcoCAR3 Team’s presentation was aimed at creating further awareness towards Advanced Vehicle Technology Competitions (AVTCs), while highlighting impactful contributions to the future of hybrid vehicle research.

Throughout the EcoCAR 3 competition, the McMaster EcoCAR 3 team has focused on reducing the carbon footprint while maintaining consumer appeal of high performance vehicles that are currently available for consumers. This event was targeted towards engineers who have an interest in new and emerging technologies, particularly those related to the environment.

The team had the opportunity to present and demonstrate our research at this ceremony, as well as increase outreach efforts with females in the STEM field that invested in engineering solutions for smarter cities’ transport across a wider range of vehicle types.

According to Christian Braun, Communications Manager of the McMaster EcoCAR 3 team,  “Our EcoCAR3 Team is very enthusiastic to have partnered with the OSPE in the Hamilton-Halton Engineering Week. This allowed us to help create awareness of the development and demonstration of emerging automotive technologies, and spread the message that we can all be part of the solution for a cleaner, healthier tomorrow,” said Braun. “Community engagement brings about positive change. We hope to see our collective energies, efforts, and passions combine in a unified front towards achieving a low-carbon based society.  Let’s move into the future, cleanly, together.”
