Where Are They Now: Evan Graves

Evan Graves is an Active Safety Feature Integration Engineer at General Motors. In this role, Graves is responsible for pushing the limits of current driver assistance technologies and providing robust performance for impact mitigation features focused on predicting and preventing collisions in many GM vehicles.

Graves joined GM in 2016 after completing his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering at the University of Alabama. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama.  During his graduate program, he participated in EcoCAR 3 as a member of the electrical, controls, modeling and simulation, and innovation teams for the UA EcoCAR 3 Team. Graves co-led the electrical team assisting with the powertrain design and running simulations to prove the design could achieve a successful performance. He also led the innovation research for Year 1, working on designing an energy storage system that took advantage of the benefits of a battery pack and a supplemental ultra-capacitor back.

Graves currently serves as General Motors Co-Technical Lead for the EcoCAR Mobility Challenge. According to Graves, he enjoys giving back to the program that led to where he is in his career today.
